More Info
The Alocasia "Polly” provides large and bold statement leaves, adding a unique tropical touch to your sunnier spaces. A bright indirect light is ideal for these bold beauties, and will help their leaves grow to be up to 2 feet long with thick stems. It prefers fairly moist soil throughout it’s growing season when it produces new leaves (in the spring and summer). In the winter all alocasia varieties enter a dormancy period where less watering is needed, as the plant does not produce new growth during this time. Don’t be alarmed if you see one leaf die as another new leaf emerges, it is a very common phenomenon. Protip: Simply cut the base of the stem of the dying leaf with clean sharp scissors. The alocasia will begin to maintain more leaves and become stronger and fuller as it matures.
As a tropical plant, the alocasia requires higher levels of humidity. Use a pebble tray, humidifier, or very light mistings to keep the humidity up. Protip: Avoid excess water on the leaves that can lead to fungal leaf spots.
